Tips on cleaning tile grout!

There are countless ways to clean the grout on your flooring, You should do some research and get some good examples on the products and methods to use. Dirty grout can deduct from your nice looking tile and make it look old and worn. This goes for your wall tile in your shower or bathtub as well as your backsplash too. So before we begin, some things to avoid would be bleach, acid or anything that is too abrasive. Most tiles that are ceramic or porcelain will resist stains. But, natural stone materials could be very porous. So Marble,

Granite, or something like Saltillo pavers will be very porous. These items have the potential to absorb spills like wine, kool-aid or other liquids, and of course dirt and grease. Needless to say it may be a good idea to seal your grout at the beginning to help keep a lot of the staining from happening in the first place, but that's another blog.

Here are the things you will need:

• Stiff bristle brush

• Hot Water

• Baking soda

• Hydrogen peroxide

• Knee pads or something to soften the area for your knees

1. Get the area ready: You should wet the area down with water and agitate it with the brush. This should loosen the dirt and grime from the grout. Scrub the grout and the tile if it looks bad.

2. Make your cleaner: Mix together one part hydrogen peroxide and 2 parts baking soda, until it develops into a paste.

3. Apply the solution: While your grout is still wet, use the brush apply your cleaner onto the grout and allow it to stand for around 5 to 10 minutes. The mixture should lift everything out of the grout joints. Once your time has passed you can start scrubbing the grout joints.

4. Final rinse: After scrubbing, mix a few drops of dish soap with some hot water and scrub everything down with a cloth, once that's done final rinse with clean water.

You should avoid traffic until the grout is dry when possible.
